    Origanum majorana Linn. A medium sized aromatic perennial herb 30-60 cm tall, leaves petiolate elliptic, 6-25 mm long, entire, broadly obtuse, fomenfose, spikelets oblong 3-5 in a cluster; bracts not prominently coloured, calyx oblique; corolla white to pink or pale lilac, 4 mm long, limb short, upper lip erect, unequally 2-lobed; nutlets Ovoid, smooth.
